As always, our Community Bank has been very busy providing a quality personable banking service that supports our local communities.
Last Thursday we held a Grants Night as part of the Community Investment Program for 2020. Just to provide a change in the way we run these nights it was held at the Lara RSL and started with a BBQ and some mini tours of the RSL . It was a great opportunity for the RSL to show off their renovated facility, which is available to the wider public for events and or meetings etc. For those who have never visited the RSL it is time to visit (Friday evenings are open to visitors).  And for those that have not visited recently you will be amazed at what can be achieved when your Community Bank grants are also supported by the City Of Greater Geelong, Geelong Community Foundation and some government grants.
With over 60 people in attendance it was very pleasing to observe the many represented groups networking and building community support. Some were still talking an hour and a half after the end of the event.
Following our Manager Damien Foster taking up an opportunity with Bendigo Bank we, in conjunction with the Bendigo Bank region office, interviewed several applicants for the role of the Lara Branch Manager. We are pleased to report that we have appointed Galen Munari to the Lara Branch Manager position, and he will be commencing in mid March. Galen is currently the Castlemaine Branch Manager and has also worked in Bendigo Melbourne branches. In his spare time, Galen enjoys playing footy, travelling, spending time with his family and studying where he has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance & Economics) through Deakin University. We are confident Galen will add great value to our branch team, partners and the Lara community.
Also, during the month our branch welcomed Daina Howard to the team as a Customer Service Officer. Daina previously worked at the Mirboo North and District Community Bank and has joined us in a casual role to support our Saturday opening hours as well as other times, while studying full time at Deakin University.

Please join me in welcoming these two new staff members to Lara.
