A message from our Chairperson
Welcome to another year. It is incredible how the years fly by. So what does 2018 have in store for you? We never know what is around the corner, so now is a good time as ever to make sure you do something positive to add value to the community in which we live.
As the New Year ramps up many of us are now back at work and school, full of optimism about the year ahead. The Board of your community bank are no different, and it is this time of the year where we have a planning day to focus on the thing we need to do to make a difference for the Lara, Little River and Anakie communities that we support.
One group of people who have a nice surprise this year is are the folk at the Little Teapot Café and Play in Flinders Avenue, who run a not for profit café focusing on providing a play environment for young children as well as a bit of good old community support for the parents, grandparents and carers. Over the New Year break, the Lara Community Bank has helped to provide improvements to their air conditioning system for the benefit of both the volunteers and those that use the café.
On the other hand, sometimes we provide support that we hope is never needed. In December, we presented Lara Lake Primary School with a defibrillator for their first aid room.
During February, another round of grants will commence with the various community groups, all being invited to make submissions. Information will be sent out in coming days.
